COLUMBUS, GA. - The Montevallo baseball team came within one run of winning as they fell short 5-4 against #8 Columbus State in extra innings, Wednesday evening in Georgia. With the loss the Falcoins slip to 16-6 overall for the year.
The Falcons notched the scoreboard first after
Reed Latimer hit a home run in the second inning to establish a Falcon lead.
Jake Smallwood helped the Montevallo effort by sacrificing himself for
Asa Awbrey to come home for UM's second run in the third quarter. Latimer came up big for the Falcons yet again as he hit a single through the right side allowing
Ben Teel to score run number three in the same inning.
Jackson Norris went yard in the sixth inning to provide Montevallo's fourth unanswered run of the game. Columbus State managed to find runs late in the game as they mounted five runs in a row to take the one point win.
UP NEXT: The Falcons are back home against Union with the series slated to begin oin Saturday, March 19th at noon.
