MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo baseball team advanced past Union 14-5 in the first game of the Saturday double header at Bob Reisner Stadium.
Union wasted no time getting on the scoreboard after Josh Bozoian hit a homerun with one on base to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs put together another run when Grayson Swanson hit another homerun in the second inning for a 3-0 lead over Montevallo.
The Falcons woke the bats up during the bottom of the second inning after
Will Pratt stepped up and went yard for a two-run home run. The Falcons took their first lead in the third inning after
Asa Awbrey and
Jake Smallwood hit back-to-back home runs bringing the UM lead to 4-3.
Montevallo got its next few runs in the fifth inning after a passed ball gave
Matt Simon a chance to get home from third base, bringing in Montevallo's fifth run. During the same AB,
Reed Latimer stepped up and hit a single up the middle to bring in
Ben Teel boosting the Montevallo lead to 6-3 after five innings.
The Falcons brought in a run in the seventh inning after
Will Pratt sacrificed himself with
Sam Kuchinski on third, making the score 7-3 with only a few innings left. Â Montevallo snuck in an additional run after a throwing error from the pitcher gave Latimer the opening to bring in the Falcon's eighth run.
The Bulldogs cut into the UM lead in the after a throwing error gave UU an opportunity to bring two runners across home plate notching the score at 8-5, after the top of the eighth inning.Â
Montevallo responded during the next AB with a three-run homer from Teel with two on base, extending the Falcon lead to 11-5. A

Asa Awbrey was walked with all three bases loaded pushing in Latimer for run number 13.Â
