MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo baseball team completed a 5-1 win over Union in the second game of Saturday's double header. With the win the Falcons are now 18-6 on the season with a 5-5 Gulf South Conference record.
The Falcons got started on the scoreboard after
Reed Latimer sent a double to left field, bringing two Falcons across home plate for a 2-0 lead at the end of one inning.
Jake Smallwood hit a clutch triple for the Falcons with
Will Pratt and
Jake O'Connell on base, adding two more runs to the UM lead.
Latimer scored a run for Montevallo in the fifth inning after
Brandon Moore got walked with bases loaded.
Union made scoring debut after Blake Barrett hit a home run to set the score to 5-1 at the top of the sixth.
The Falcons held the Bulldogs off for the remainder of the ball game to secure the four-run victory.
UP NEXT: The Falcons return to Bob Reisner on Sunday, March 19th at 12:00pm for the final game of the weekend series against the Bulldogs.
