The Bulldogs laid the first blow after Dorian Berry homered to give Union an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Falcons struck back in the same inning after
Matt Simon was walked with bases loaded, allowing
Sam Kuchinski to advance from third to tie the game 1-1.
The Falcons added another run in the following inning after
Reed Latimer sacrificed himself to bring
Jake Smallwood in, setting the score to 2-1 at the end of three innings.
Montevallo created another scoring opportunity in the fourth inning after
Will Pratt snuck home on a double stolen base, ignited by
Asa Awbrey stealing second base. The Falcons brought in an additional run after Smallwood singled to give Awbrey a shot to run home setting the score at 4-1 at the end of four innings.
UM brought in another run in the fifth inning after
Riley Cain hit a sac fly to bring Kuchinski home from third, making the score 5-1.
Union found a scoring opportunity after a hit by pitch with bases loaded brought in their second run in the sixth inning. Montevallo responded during the following AB as
Will Pratt stepped up and bombed a home run for the Falcons sixth score of the day. UM added another score in the same inning after
Ben Teel sac flied to bring Simon home, setting the score at 7-2. Kuchinski provided an additional scoring chance after he hit a single that allowed Awbrey to advance to home plate.
The Bulldogs cut into Montevallo's lead after Josh Bozoian hit a home run with two on base, bringing the score to 8-5 in the seventh inning. The Falcons brought in a run in the seventh after a
Will Pratt sac bunt made way for a fielding error by the pitcher, bringing home
Riley Cain for UM's ninth run. Montevallo put together two additional runs after back to back left field singles with bases loaded, setting the score to 11-5.
Sam Kuchinski broke the game open with a triple, that brought in three extra runs.
Reed Latimer sealed the deal with a single to right center that brought Kuchinski in for UM's 15
th run ending the game by run rule.
