MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo softball team dug a huge hole, staged a spirited rally, but came up a run short in a 8-7 loss to Union University on Sunday afternoon at Orr Park. The loss snapped a seven game winning streak for the Falcons, who fell to 14-11 and 6-4 in the Gulf South Conference. Union improved to 10-16 and 4-8. 

Next Up: The Falcons will head to Rome, Ga. to take on Shorter University on Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27.

The Falcons got on the board on a solo homerun by Sierra Easterwood. Hannah Carey added another run, scoring on an error to give UM a 2-0.

Top 2nd
Union exploded for eight runs to take an 8-2 lead.

Carlee Mullinax goes yard to cut the lead to 8-3.

Bottom 5th
The Falcons creep closer with a pair of runs. Mullinax drove in the first run with an RBI double. Then, Lauren Hamby doubled to drive home pinch runner Lauren Higginbotham to make it 8-5.

Bottom 6th
A solo blast by Taylor Robinson and a bases-loaded walk brought UM within a run at 8-7. The Falcons left the bases loaded.
