ROME, Ga. --- The Montevallo softball team hammered Shorter University on Saturday, sweeping a pair of games 12-1 in five innings and 14-4. The Falcons improved to 16-11 and 8-4 in the Gulf South Conference with the wins, while Shorter fell to 4-26 and 1-15.
Next Up: The Falcons and Hawks will wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at noon.Â
GAME 1
Pitching
Winning Pitcher -
Kaylee Hawkins improved to 4-3 with the win. She scattered four hits and allowed one run, while striking out eight.
Falcons Leaders
The Falcons had 12 hits in the game.
Lauren Hamby led the way going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Sierra Easterwood, and
Taylor Robinson each had two hits. Easterwood doubled and had an RBI, while Robinson had two RBIs.

The Falcons scored three runs in the first inning. Hamby and
Georgia Hughes each had RBI singles in the inning.

Two more runs came home for UM. Hamby had a 2-run single, while
Hannah Carey doubled home a run and Robinson had an RBI single.

Holly Massey each had RBI doubles in the inning as the Falcons scored three more runs.

The Falcons rounded out the scoring barrage with a pair of runs.
Sydnee Pawlak and
Kinley Adams did the honors. Pawlak had an RBI single and Adams plated the final run with an RBI double.
GAME 2
Pitching
Winning Pitcher -
Mychael McMillan improved to 6-3 with the win. She four runs on six hits. She also had nine strikeouts and a walk.
Falcons Leaders
The Falcons bested their effort in the first game with 18 hits.
Lauren Hamby was 3-for-3 again, making her perfect on the day. She had a homerun, a double and three RBIs.
Carlee Mullinax also had three hits, including a solo homerun.
Sierra Easterwood also homered and drove in three runs. She was among four Falcons with two hits in the game.
Hannah Carey,
Sydnee Pawlak and
Kinley Adams also had two hits. Pawlak had a double and two RBIs, while Carey drove in a run.

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead on a solo bomb by Mullinax.

Easterwood added to the UM lead with a 3-run shot.

Hamby joined the homerun parade with a 2-run homer to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead.Â

After Shorter scored a couple of run in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 6-2, UM answered with three runs to extend the lead to 9-2.
Carey and Robinson drove home runs on sacrifice fly outs and Hamby had an RBI double.
Top 6th
Shorter scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-4. But, Pawlak doubled home two runs to make it 11-4.
Top 7th
The Falcons capped the scoring with three runs.

Olivia Bergert added an RBI single.
