Explosive offense propels Montevallo past Shorter, 22-9

ROME, Ga. - The Montevallo baseball team scored 15 runs in three consecutive innings to surge past Shorter 22-9, Sunday at Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex in Rome, Georgia.  With the win the Falcons advance to 23-8 overall and 8-6 in conference competitions.

UP NEXT: The Falcons will host Spring Hill for a midweek rematch starting on Wednesday, March 30th at 3:00 PM in Bob Reisner Stadium.

Key Players
Sophomore in-fielder Sam Kuchinski recorded a season best four hits, finishing 4-for-4 with a season high eight RBIs, and four runs scored.  Matt Simon also submitted season high performances
including four hits, two home-runs, three RBI's, and four runs scored.

Pitching 
Sophomore Logan Samuels earned the win on the mound for Montevallo,as he allowed two runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of work. He also struck out two while on the bump.

Bottom 1st

The Falcons fell behind 7-0 after a big inning at the plate from Shorter.

Top 2nd
Montevallo regrouped and put together six runs in the inning to cut the Hawks lead to one run.

Top 3rd
The Falcons added four more runs during their third AB to snag the lead 10-7.

Top 4th
UM kept the bats hot in the fourth, putting up five additional runs to establish a 15-7 cushion.

Top 5th
Matt Simon went yard adding yet another run to the Falcons winning effort.

Top 6th
The Falcons offense remained intact after a Will Pratt triple gave UM three more runs for a 19-9 edge.

Top 7th
Simon wasn't finished sending balls into orbit, adding another home run to bring in the Falcon's 20th run of the ball game.  Chet Moore provided Montevallo with two extra runs after he singled to left center with Jake O'Connell and Jake Smallwood speeding past home plate to seal the deal.
