MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo baseball team blew open a close game, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning en route to a 13-4 win over Spring Hill College on Wednesday afternoon at Bob Reisner Stadium. The Falcons improved to 23-8 with the win, while Spring Hill fell to 16-10.
Next Up: The Falcons host West Florida in a Gulf South Conference series at Bob Riesner Stadium on Friday and Saturday. The two teams meet Friday evening in a single game at 5 p.m. Then, the series wraps up with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
Pitching
Joshua Alpough improved to 3-1 with the win. He pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings, struck out five and walked two. He was one of five Falcons to take the mound in the game.

Jake Smallwood had three of the Falcons 11 hits in the game. He was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Second baseman

After Spring Hill scored two runs to cut the lead to a run, the Falcons exploded for seven runs to blow the game wide open. The rally began quietly enough when Awbrey walked with the bases loaded. Then, Smallwood was hit by a pitch, driving home another run. A wild pitch scored a third run and the flood gates opened. An RBI single by
Ben Teel was followed by Kuchinski's 3-run homer that made it 10-2.
Bottom 7th
Spring Hill scored two runs in the top of the 7th inning, but the Falcons snuffed out any hope of a comeback, scoring the final three runs of the game. Awbrey plated two of the runs with a 2-run triple and pinch hitter
Evan Kirk rounded out the scoring with an RBI single.
