Baseball splits DH against Shorter

ROME, GA. - The Montevallo baseball team took a 12-7 win followed by an 8-1 loss to the Shorter University Hawks, Saturday afternoon in Georgia.  With the split the Falcons sit at 21-8 overall this season with a 7-6 Gulf South Conference record.

NEXT UP:  The Falcons will wrap up the Shorter series on Sunday, March 27th with the first pitch set for 11:00 AM.  

Falcon Leaders
In game one the Falcons were led by Reed Latimer and Jake Smallwood.  Latimer submitted two hits with five RBI's, two runs scored, and a home run.  Smallwood also had two hits, two runs scored, a double, and a walk.  Ben Teel put together UM's most impactful hit in game two, batting in the Falcons only run.

Pitching
In game one Zack Toth (4-0) took the win on the mound for the Falcons only giving up three hits and two runs with one walk and nine strikeouts.  Trey Felker (2-1) provided service for Montevallo in the second game, allowing 11 hits with seven runs, and three strikeouts.

Game One 


Top 4th 
Reed Latimer broke the game open for the Falcons after he went yard with two others on base, to give UM a 3-2 advantage.

Top 5th
The Falcons put together a series of runs in the fifth inning to push their lead 7-3.

Top 8th
Montevallo sealed the deal with multiple runs scored in the eighth inning.  Jackson Norris provided a huge home run to add three additional runs setting off a 12-5 cushion.
