Falcons fall in final at bat against Mississippi College on the softball diamond

RAYMOND, Miss. --- For the second consecutive game, the Montevallo softball team lost in the last at-bat of the game after leading late. This time, it was Mississippi College who came away with a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning to snatch a 6-5 win over the Falcons at Rene Wallace Field at Hind Community College. The loss dropped the Falcons 22-15 and 12-8 in the Gulf South Conference, while Mississippi College 18-17 and 10-12 in the GSC.

Next Up: The two teams will finish the GSC series Friday afternoon with a  doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Pitching
Kaylee Hawkins (6-5) took the loss for the Falcons. She allowed two runs on two hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. She also struck out four and walked two.  

Falcons Leaders
Four Falcons, Sierra Easterwood, Lauren Hamby, Taylor Robinson and Alisha Lanyon, had two hits each. Easterwood had home run and an RBI, while Lanyon homered and drove home two runs. Robinson doubled and had an RBI and Hamby also had a double.

Top 1st
Sierra Easterwood got the Falcons on the board with a solo home run.

2nd inning
Hannah Carey gave UM a 2-0 lead with an RBI single, but the Choctaws put up four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. 

Top 4th
Alisha Lanyon cut the deficit to one (4-3) with a lead-off homer.

7th Inning
The Falcons tied the game with an RBI double by Taylor Robinson. Then, Lanyon gave UM the 5-4 lead with single that scored Robinson. But, the Falcons couldn't hold the lead. The Choctaws loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning, then won the game on a 2-run single by Jordan LaFosse.
