MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo softball team suffered a pair of tough losses to No. 16 West Florida on Saturday. The Falcons lost the first game 7-4 in extra innings after clawing back from a 3-0 deficit. Then, UWF scored a run in the seventh inning to take game two 3-2. The Falcons fell to 19-13 and 9-6 in the Gulf South Conference, while the Argonauts improved their record to 21-8 and 14-3.
Next Up: The two teams will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader to close out the series. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
GAME 1
Pitching
Mycheal McMillan (8-4) took the loss for the Falcons, despite pitching a solid 7 1/3 innings. She gave up four runs on eight hits, struck out five and walked one.
Falcons Leaders
The Falcons were limited to six hits in the game. Catcher
Lauren Hamby had two of the hits, while
Kinley Adams had a double and an RBI.
Sierra Easterwood and
Hannah Carey both hit solo home runs, while Sidney Pawlak also had an extra base hit with a triple.

West Florida took an early lead with a run in the first inning, then added two more in the fifth.
Bottom 6th
Hannah Carey hit a lead-off solo homer to cut the lead to 3-1.
Bottom 7th
Sierra Easterwood brought the Falcons to within a run with a homerun over the left field fence. Pinch-runner
Olivia Bergert scored on a sacrifice fly by
Taylor Robinson to tie the game at 3-all.
8th Inning
West Florida score four runs to take a 7-3 lead.
Sydnee Pawlak tripled and scored on a double by
Kinley Adams, but the Falcons wouldn't be able to score again.
GAME 2
Pitching
Despite a solid outing,
Kaylee Hawkins took the loss for UM. She pitched all seven innings, allowed three runs on seven hits. She had four strikeouts and four walks.
Falcons Leaders
The Falcons offense was held in check, managing only four hits. Four hits had a hit.
Sierra Easterwood and
Carlee Mullinax each hit solo home runs.
Alisha Lanyon and
Kinley Adams had the other hits for the Falcons.Â
