MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo baseball team picked up a 5-4 victory in game one over Lee, but fell short 7-3 in game two Saturday at Bob Reisner Stadium. Head coach
Chandler Rose's unit is now 33-12 overall this season with a 16-10 Gulf South Conference record.
UP NEXT: The Falcons are set to face West Georgia, with the first pitch set for Friday, April 29th at 5:00 PM.
GAME ONE SUMMARY
The Falcons saw a big triple from
Reed Latimer that gave UM three runs in third inning after falling behind 1-0.
Asa Awbrey stepped up and hit a single down the right field line that brought Latimer in for the Falcons fourth run.
Lee added two runs in the sixth inning to tie UM 4-4.
Alex Langford sacrificed himself in the eighth inning, allowing
Sam Kuchinski a chance to come home. The Falcons held off Lee for the remainder of the ball game to take the one-run win.
GAME TWO SUMMARY
The Flames flipped the script in the second game as they managed to score seven unanswered runs in the first six innings.
Ben Teel provided a little life for UM behind the plate in the bottom of the sixth after going yard with two on base. The Falcons battled but were unable to pull off the comeback in the later innings.
