Montevallo downs Flagler 18-8 on Senior Day

MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo men's lacrosse team took a 18-8 win over the Flagler College Saints, Saturday at the Lacrosse Stadium.  With the win the Falcons conclude the regular season with a 8-7 overall record with a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference record.

UP NEXT:  The Falcons are set to host the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Lacrosse tournament on Tuesday, May 3rd with the time and opponent to be determined.

Key Players
Thomas Vaesen cemented himself in the national record books as he became the third overall goal scorer in NCAA Division II history.  The senior attacker netted five goals with an assist, and a ground ball for a total of eight points.  The Falcons also received scoring contributions from Kordell Primus (4), Trevayne Hunter (4), Jackson Neufeld (2), Scott Friant (1), Jackson Klewchuk (1), Jacob Obee (1).

In Goal
Kyle Little (6-5) earned the win in the net for UM, he made 14 saves in 39.44 minutes of service.  Senior Nico DePaoli contributed solid minutes in goal, making eight saves in 12:03 minutes.  Jacob Bodino also completed seven saves for the Falcons.

Game Summary

1st Half

The Falcons didn't take long to jump on the scoreboard as Kordell Primus only took 00:27 to create his own scoring opportunity to take a 1-0 lead.  UM put together an additional goal when Zach Debarge found Thomas Vaesen for UM's second goal of the game.  The Falcons outscored Flagler 4-1 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

Montevallo took off in the second quarter notching eight total goals during the period compared to one goal from Flagler.  The Falcons were in charge 12-2 by the end of the first half.

2nd Half
The Saints put together a few goals in the third but the Falcons held on to a comfortable 16-5 by the end of the quarter.  Flagler fired off three goals in the fourth but the Falcons added two more to complete the ten goal victory.
