LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Montevallo softball team settled for a split in the series finale against West Alabama on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons won the first game 8-3, but lost the final game 11-10 in eight innings. The Falcons are 22-14 after taking 2-of-3 against the Tigers and 12-7 in the Gulf South Conference.
Next Up: The Falcons travel to Clinton, Mississippi on Easter weekend for a Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College. The two teams will play a single game on Friday at 5 p.m., then a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
GAME 1
The big bats came out to blow open a close game for the Falcons in an 8-3. In the game, the Falcons hit three homers.
Pitching
Kaylee Hawkins improved to 7-4 with the win. She pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, struck out seven and walked two.
Mychael McMillan also got in some work in the final 1 1/3 innings. She allowed a run on two hits.
Falcons Leaders
Alisha Lanyon,
Sierra Easterwood and
Taylor Robinson was all 2-for-4 from the plate with home runs. Robinson drove in four runs with one swing of the bat, while Easterwood and Lanyon each had two RBIs.
Kinley Adams also had a pair of hits, with a double.

Top 4th
The Falcons fell behind after an early run in the first inning by the Tigers. However,
Alisha Lanyon tied the game with an RBI single that scored
Hannah Carey who reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning.
5th Inning
A 2-run homer by
Sierra Easterwood gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead. UWA got one of the runs back on a solo home run by Kacy Noland.
Top 7th
UM blew the game open with five runs on four hits.
Taylor Robinson opened the flood gates with a two-out grand slam. Then, Lanyon went back-to-back with a solo blast that made it 8-2. The Tigers picked up a run in the bottom of inning, but, the rally was snuffed out by McMillan.
GAME 2
The Falcons came from behind to take the lead, only to have victory slip away in extra innings. The two teams combined for 22 hits and eight errors in the game
Pitching
With the pitching staff struggling to get outs, first baseman stepped into the circle in the eighth inning to pitch for the first time since high school. Unfortunately, she would be saddled with the loss.Â
Falcons Leaders
Alisha Lanyon was 3-for-5 at the plate, while
Georgia Hughes had two hits and an RBI.
Sierra Easterwood and
Kinley Adams had one hit each, but Easterwood had four RBIs and Adams three.
Key Plays:
The Falcons fell behind when UWA scored a couple of runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Tigers added three more runs in the third inning on an error and a 2-run homer to take a 5-0 lead.
4th Inning
The Falcons offense came to life, rallying for four runs with the help of a couple of errors by UWA.
Georgia Hughes began the rally with an RBI single.
Alisha Lanyon, who singled to start the inning, and got into scoring position on an error, scored on the play. Another error proved beneficial for UM as Hughes and
Sydnee Pawlak both scored to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Kinley Adams cut the UWA lead to 5-4, scoring off of a sacrifice fly by
Sierra Easterwood. UWA added to their lead in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer by LP Trammell.Â
Top 5th
The Falcons surged ahead with three runs. Adams and Easterwood both had RBI singles to tie the game, then
Carlee Mullinax walked with the bases loaded to give UM a 7-6 lead.
6th Inning
UM appeared to be pulling away when they scored three more runs to take a 10-6 lead. Lanyon scored on an RBI single by Pawlak. Then,
Lauren Hamby and Hughes scored when Easterwood reached on a error. But, in the bottom of the inning, the Tigers rebounded with three runs of their own to make it 10-9 going into the seventh inning.
7th Inning
After the Falcons failed to score in their half of the inning, Hannah Maynard tied the game with a lead-off homer.
8th Inning
Outfielder Cassie Matlock ended the game with a walk-off solo homer.Â
