Seven-run fourth inning propels Falcons to an 11-6 win over UWF

OXFORD, Ala. - The Montevallo baseball team is still alive after a critical 11-6 victory over West Florida, Saturday at the GSC Baseball Tournament. 
 
UP NEXT: The Falcons will face the loser between the Lee vs Delta State match up on Sunday, May 8th.  The time is yet to be determined.  
 
Key Plays
 Bottom 1st 
The Argos jumped out ahead of Montevallo in the first inning when Tyler Dowdy singled through the left side allowing Trent Jeffcoat to score.
 
Top/Bottom 2nd
Freshman Zen Hiatt provided an answer for UM with a home run to tie UWF 1-1.
 
West Florida came back with a double and a single that both scored runs, resetting the lead to 3-1 over UM. 
 
Top 4th
The Falcons began to pick up the pieces in the fourth as Sam Kuchinski went yard over right center with Ben Teel on base, notching the game at 3-3.  
 
 Montevallo capitalized on a scoring opportunity with bases loaded when sophomore Will Pratt singled pushing Reed Latimer across home plate.  
 
The Falcons boosted their lead after a UWF throwing error brought in three UM runs setting the score at 7-3.  Matt Simon added additional cushion to the lead when he singled, bringing Cain home from third for the Falcons seventh run of the inning.
 
Top/Bottom 6th
UM found another run after Teel tripled with Cain on base for a 9-3 lead over West Florida. 
 
UWF's Jadon Fryman provided a hit that brought in a run to set the score at 9-4.
 
Top/Bottom 7th
The Falcons bolstered its lead when Reed Latimer homered, providing UM with its tenth run of the game.  
 
West Florida found an additional run in the seventh after Preston Moore was hit by pitch with bases loaded, but the Falcons held the lead 10-5.
 
Top/Bottom 9th
Hiatt provided the Falcons with an insurance home run to bring the lead to 11-5.
 
West Florida's Cullan O'Shea added a spark with a home run during the Argos final at bat.
