MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the Indianapolis University Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind.
In the first contest of the day, Montevallo fell to McKendree, 3-2, after taking a 2-0 lead to start the match.
To close out the day, Montevallo dropped a match to Anderson, 3-1, after opening with a 25-15 win in the first set.
Macy Martin totaled 27 kills and 15 digs on the day while
Casey Hendrixson compiled 44 digs across both matches.

GAME NOTES
- Allie Dishman led the Falcons in kills for the third straight match with 14 while hitting .393.
- Macy Martin added 13 kills and seven digs in the match.
- Aliyah Thompson and Kamble Frenette added 10 kills and nine kills, respectively.
- Sav Roys led the way with 21 assists and eight digs while fellow setter Colton Thompson registered 16 assists and 12 digs in a double-double performance.
- Junior Casey Hendrixson anchored the back row and tallied a team-high 18 digs.
- Jillian Morgan's five block assists led the team.
- McKendree narrowly edged the Falcons, 55-53, in kills. Neither side hit extremely well in the match as the Bearcats hit .187 while Montevallo hit .142.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Montevallo jumped out to a 6-2 lead to start the match following a pair of kills from Macy Martin.
- After another Martin kill, Montevallo led 15-10 before a 6-0 run gave McKendree a one-point lead, 16-15.
- Allie Dishman capped a 7-1 run to take the momentum back, giving the Falcons a 22-17 advantage.
- Dishman secured the first-set win, 25-22, following another kill.
Set 2
- UM broke open the second set early, 12-3, when a service Colton Thompson capped an 8-0 run.
- The Falcons held McKendree off in the set, scoring eight consecutive points down-the-stretch to win, 25-10. A service ace from Megan Schram clinched the win to put the Falcons up 2-0 in the match.
- Montevallo trailed only once in the set.
Set 3
- The third set was a tightly-contested match all the way through. Neither squad held more than a two-point lead until back-to-back McKendree errors put the Falcons ahead 20-17.
- McKendree used a 3-0 run to even the score, 20-20.
- A kill from Aliyah Thompson handed the lead back to Montevallo, 21-20.
- McKendree used a pair of kills to reach set-point, 24-23.
- The Falcons were unable to hold off the Bearcats, falling 25-23 in the third set.
Set 4
- After dropping the third set, Montevallo was outscored 13-3 to open the fourth.
- Montevallo trimmed the deficit to seven, 21-15, with a Martin ace to finish off a 4-0 run.
- The Falcons were unable to hold off the Bearcats the rest of the wat, dropping the fourth set 25-16.
Set 5
- A trio of errors by the Bearcats aided the Falcons to an early 4-1 lead in the tie-breaking fifth set.
- McKendree climbed out of the hole to lead Montevallo, 7-5, before a pair of kills from Martin and Dishman evened the set 8-8.
- The Bearcats once again pulled ahead by two, 12-10, following a 4-2 run.
- Morgan Hoffman trimmed the deficit to one, 12-11, with a kill before a 3-0 McKendree run sealed the win, 15-11, and handed the Falcons a tough 3-2 loss in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- A trio of kills from Frenette, Dishman and Morgan Hoffman opened the match 4-1 in favor of the Falcons.
- Montevallo's lead extended to eight mid-way through, 16-8, following an 8-0 run that included a pair of Frenette kills.
- An error from the Trojans sealed the first-set win, 25-15 for UM.
Set 2
- Both sides traded points throughout the set, with neither team holding more than a two-point lead until a 5-0 run put Anderson ahead 24-20.
- Martin added a kill, ending the Trojan run, but it wasn't enough as Anderson took the second set, 25-21.
Set 3
- Anderson jumped ahead 11-7 in the early goings but a 4-0 run that included a trio of kills, evened the match 11-11.
- Montevallo fell behind 22-18 after committing an attack error.
- Two more Falcons errors gave Anderson a 25-19 win in the third set and put the Trojans up 2-1 in the match.
Set 4
- A 6-1 run, capped with a Martin kill, opened the fourth set for the Falcons.
- After a Martin service ace put UM up 11-6, Anderson exploded for an 11-2 run to lead 17-13. Montevallo committed seven errors during the Trojan run.
- The Falcons were unable to catch Anderson the rest of the way, dropping the fourth set 25-16 and the match, 3-1.

The Falcons will travel to Cleveland, Tenn. For the Lee Invitational Sept. 2-3, to face Trevecca Nazarene, No. 2 Washburn, Erskine, and Saint Leo. Tournament action will begin on Friday. Sept. 2 at 8 a.m. against Trevecca Nazarene.
