HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team defeated Alabama-Huntsville 66-61, in come-from-behind fashion, Wednesday evening in Huntsville, Ala. to move to 8-7 in conference play.
Following a 14-point comeback in the second half and a pair of game-sealing steals from senior guard
Marisa Snodgrass, the Falcons earned their fourth-straight Gulf South Conference victory, solidifying fifth place in the league standings.
Montevallo took its first lead of the contest, 51-50, from the free-throw line, when
Michaella Edwards was fouled on a three-pointer at the 7:11 mark, capping a 9-2 run to open the fourth quarter. UAH briefly regained the lead before back-to-back lay-ins for
McCarley Northway extended UM's lead to five, 60-55, with less than two minutes remaining and set a new career-high of 17 points.
With the Falcons clinging on to a two-point lead, 63-61, with 10.4 seconds remaining Snodgrass recorded a steal, halting a UAH game-tying or game-winning opportunity. After draining a free-throw to lead by three, Snodgrass once again made a game-winning defensive stop - her fifth steal of the game - with three seconds to go. Shayn Flack iced the win from the free-throw line, 66-61, in the final seconds to complete the comeback.
