MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team defeats the Union University Bulldogs in five sets to move to 5-4 in GSC play.

GAME NOTES
- Macy Martin led the Falcons with 15 kills on 46 attacks.
- Morgan Hoffman had 11 kills on a .435 hit percentage while adding eight total blocks and one assists.
- Colton Thompson had a monster game as she had season-high's in kills (8), assists (48), total blocks (5) and points (16.5).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage but that was quickly erased as Union committed four consecutive attack errors followed by a kill from Morgan Hoffman as the Falcons took a 5-4.
- Tied 10 to 10, both teams exchanged two points as the Falcons got kills from Allie Dishman and Macy Martin.
- After a kill from Morgan Hoffman to tie the set up at 15-15, Union regained the lead after a kill from Marie Torosian.
- Montevallo went on a 4-0 run to take the lead back with multiple kills from Macy Martin and one from Morgan Hoffman and Kamble Frenette.
- Union respond with a four-point swing of their own to take a 20-19 advantage.
- After a kill from Frenette and a kill from the Bulldogs, the Falcons took the next four points on three kills from Allie Dishman.
- A kill from Macy Martin gave the Falcons the first set.
- Colton Thompson had 14 assists in the set.
Set 2
- Union took the second set while Montevallo had 14 kills compared to the Bulldogs 13.
- UU had a lower hit percentage in the second set (.163 to .171)

Set 3
- Montevallo got the advantage early as they took the first five out of six points to take a 5-1 lead.
- After a Grace Petro ace, the Bulldogs fought back and took the lead at 8-7.
- Down 15-14 and after an error on Union, Colton Thompson continued her monster night with a kill and an ace to force a Bulldogs timeout.
- After timeout, Union took the next six out of seven points to go up 21-18.
- Montevallo battled back to make it 23-22 but two straight kills from the Bulldogs ended the set and gave Union a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4
- With kills from Frenette, Dishman, Martin, Hoffman and Colton Thompson, Montevallo took a 5-2 lead.
- The Falcons kept the lead by forcing errors on the Bulldogs to make it 10-5.
- After a service error by Union, the Bulldogs took three straight points to come within one of the Falcons.
- At 15-13 advantage Montevallo, UM took the next six points with five of which being errors on Union and a kill from Martin.
- The Falcons tied the match up at 2-2 and took the fourth set with an Allie Dishman kill to close it out.
Set 5
- Union took the first point of the set with a kill from Sydney Whittaker then Montevallo tied it up with a Kamble Frenette kill.
- Both teams took two points each to make it 3-3.
- Tied 6-6, Montevallo took the lead off a service error by Union and a kill from Brooklyn Hudson.
- The Falcons went up 11-8 highlighted by another kill from Hudson.
- UM extended the lead to 14-10 with kills from Martin and Hoffman.
- Montevallo won the set and the match off a service error on Union.
