Falcons Finish SSC-GSC Crossover

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team falls in final match of SSC-GSC Crossover to Eckerd.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1
  • Tied at 4-4, Eckerd would take the next three points and held onto the lead from there on out.
  • After a kill from Macy Martin to bring the Falcons within two, the Tritons took four consecutive points to go up 18-12.
  • Kills from Morgan Hoffman and Alex Koontz kept Montevallo alive but Eckerd went on to take the set by taking the next six out of eight points.
  • The Tritons had a hit percentage of .464 in the first set while UM had a hitting percentage of -.029.
 
Set 2
  • After an opening kill from Kamble Frenette to take a 1-0 lead, Eckerd took seven straight points with three kills and two aces.
  • The Falcons clawed back in it with two kills from Macy Martin and service aces from Allie Dishman and Colton Thompson to make it 10-8.
  • The Tritons took the next six points on a kill and two aces. After those three points, Montevallo committed three errors to make it 16-8 in favor of Eckerd.
  • Eckerd went on to take the set with 13 total kills on 29 attacks. UM converted seven of their 24 attacks during the set.
 
Set 3
  • Down 3-2, Montevallo took the lead with kills from Martin and Dishman, who also had an ace in the three-point swing.
  • Eckerd swung the lead back in their favor with a 5-1 run.
  • The Falcons tied the set up at 9-9 after ace and a kill from Morgan Hoffman.
  • UM showed more fight as they regained the lead after an Eckerd error with kills from Martin and Hoffman.
  • Down 19-18, the Tritons won five consecutive points to take a 23-19 lead.
  • Montevallo won three straight points but we unable to stay alive as Eckerd took the final set.
 
UP NEXT
Montevallo will step back into GSC play as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on the West Alabama Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
