Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Falcons Complete Unbeaten Weekend With 2-0 Win at CBU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Montevallo women's soccer completed an unbeaten weekend in Tennessee with a 2-0 win at Christian Brothers on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Falcons looked to find an early goal off a corner inside the game's first two minutes but failed to convert. 
 
Graduate student Tori Ochoa would take Montevallo's first shot of the afternoon on a breakaway chance in the seventh minute but missed the mark out right. 
 
Christian Brothers drew sophomore keeper Jolie Cazale's first save of the day in the on a free kick from just outside the penalty area in the 10th minute with another Cazale save coming just 10 minutes later. 
 
The two sides locked down defensively for the remainder of the half with Cazale finding a third save just before the half. 
 
Out of the half, Cazale was put to the test yet again in the 48th minute but came up with another save to keep the game tied at 0-0. 
 
The Falcon attack saw a pair of corners before Isabel Dillehay fired Montevallo's first shot on frame in the 61stminute following closely by another from Angelina Rivas at the 68-minute mark. 
 
Montevallo's Madeline Milby broke the ice in the 78th minute with a riffling shot from well outside the 18-yard box with the assist going to fellow graduate Ochoa.
 
Christian Brothers was poised to tie the game in the 89th minute with its first corner of the contest but, the Falcon defense cleared the ball quickly, sparking a counterattack that saw Lainey Farabaugh beat the keeper for her second goal of the weekend.
 
The two late Falcon goals improve Montevallo to 5-3-3 in conference play and 8-4-3 overall.

  • Cazale's five saves in her third shutout of the season match the second-most in a single game in her career.
  • Farabaugh now is tied for the most goals on the team with a team-high 26 shots and 14 shots on goal.
  • The Falcons outshot CBU 13-7 on the day with a dead even 6-6 mark in shots on goal.
  • Montevallo won six corners while CBU took just one. 
 
UP NEXT: Montevallo kicks off the final weekend of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. with a matchup against Delta State.
