MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams are set to compete in the Sewanee Invitational on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 hosted by Sewanee University.
The men's and women's teams are coming off wins over Berry College and losses to Emmanuel University on Saturday, Oct. 21.
Five years ago, the Sewanee Invitational was the first swim meet in program history.
Montevallo Men
The men are looking for another strong performance in 100-yard breaststroke as
Janek Barczyk and
Connor Daigle took the top two spots with times of 58.15 and 59.37.
In last week's tri-meet,
Juan Celis,
Jack Rodgers,
Jimmy Franck and
Will Mahone all had top-five finishes in the 50-yard free as they all came in with sub 23 second times.
Last season, the men came in second place with 728.5 points in the invitational.
Montevallo Women
Hanna Persson is come coming off a strong showing as she took first place in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:09.19 and 2:29.69.
The group of
Petra Cajkas,
Hanna Persson,
Keara McGee and
Danielle Davis will be looking to repeat their first-place time of 1:53.63 in the 200-yard medlay relay which they raced against Millsaps.
