MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team downs the Lee University Flames in the final set of the match to move to 4-2 in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Energized by the home crowd, the Falcons got out to a 9-4 lead with kills from Alex Koontz, Morgan Hoffman, Kamble Frenette and Macy Martin.
- Montevallo kept their foot on the gas as they had four consecutive points via kills to make it 15-9.
- Two kills from Frenette extended the lead and errors from the Flames cost them any chance of getting back into the set.
- Colton Thompson assisted on six of the Falcons 13 kills in the set.
Set 2
- Montevallo staked themselves to a 5-3 lead early in the second set highlighted by kills from Macy Martin, Danielle Greene and Morgan Hoffman.
- After an ace from Kamble Frenette, both teams exchanged two-point swings with an error and a kill.
- At 9-7, UM took the next six out of eight kills with four kills (two from Martin, one from Dishman, one from Koontz) to take a 15-9 lead on Lee.
- Down 19-13, Lee took the next five out of six points to shorten the gap to 20-18.
- The Flames then tied the set up at 22-22 by taking four consecutive points.
- The Falcons took a 24-22 advantage on two Macy Martin kills but Lee battled back with three kills of their own.
- Down 29-28, a kill from Kalin Duncan tied the set at 29 all.
- Kamble Frenette fired two kills off two assists from Duncan to take the second set.
Set 3
- The Flames didn't back down after losing the first two sets as they rallied back to steal the third set with 13 kills off 40 total attacks meanwhile Montevallo converted 13 kills out of 43 attacks in the set.
- Down 16-15, Allie Dishman put the Falcons back on top with two kills off two perfect sets from Colton Thompson.
- With an ace and errors on Montevallo, Lee was able to regain the lead.
- The Flames ended set three by taking the last six out of nine points with five kills during that span.
Set 4
- The Flames played their best set of the match with 19 kills on a .241 hit percentage.
- After being down 7-1 early in set four and down 13-5, Lee caught fire by converting their next nine attacks to bring the score to 18-15 advantage Montevallo.
- After a Macy Martin kill and a bad set from the Flames, Lee took the next nine out of 11 points to take a 24-22 lead.
- Kills from Alex Koontz and Macy Martin tied the set at 24 all.
- LU finished the set taking the last three out of four points.
Set 5
- The fifth and deciding set started with Lee taking a 2-0 lead with a kill and an error on the Falcons.
- Montevallo tied it at two all with kills by Koontz and Martin.
- Down 3-2, UM took the next six points off of three aces from freshman Grace Petro.
- A kill from Hoffman and Martin with an error on the Flames made it 11-5.
- After Lee took the next two points, Montevallo took a commanding 14-7 lead with kills from Frenette and Hoffman. The Falcons took the last point on a bad set from the Flames.
