Montevallo Drops Matchup With No. 21 West Florida

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer fell, 2-0, in a matchup with No. 21 West Florida on Friday night at Varsity Field.
 
The Argonauts were on the attack early and often with five UWF shots coming before the Falcons could manage to fire one. In the 33rd minute, senior keeper Emily Hounsell was forced to make her first save of the evening with a second save coming just moments later.
 
Hounsell went back to work in the 43rd minute to keep the game in a scoreless tie heading into the half.
 
West Florida came out of the half on the attack with UWF putting its first goal on the board in the 50th minute.
 
Around six minutes later, the Falcons saw three-consecutive shots with Morgan Goehring and Raylene Alcaraz firing Montevallo's first two shots on goal of the night.
 
Senior Miranda Fragoso looked to tie the game in the 69th minute but was denied by the UWF keeper before the Argos added a second goal following a Falcon offside call.
 
Tori Ochoa and Fragoso each fired a shot on target in the closing stages but the Falcons would fall, 2-0.
