MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer snapped a three-game losing streak after posting a 1-1 draw with Spring Hill on Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons looked to attack early with freshman
Morgan Goehring firing the game's first shot in the eighth minute. On the counterattack, Spring Hill forced
Jolie Cazale to make her first save of the day at the 11-minute mark.
The Falcons saw a golden opportunity to put a goal on the board with three-straight corners but were only able to get one shot out of it.
Montevallo has another dangerous chance at the end of the half with Goehring and
Raylene Alcaraz taking back-to-back shots on goal but each was turned away leaving the game knotted at 0-0 heading into the break.
Out of the half, the Falcons took control of the game with
Bailey Raphelt's first goal of the season with assists from
Raylene Alcaraz and
Angelina Rivas in the 49
th minute.
Montevallo's backline held strong until Spring Hill found the equalizer in the 79
th minute off a breakaway chance for the Badgers.
The Badgers nearly took the game but Cazale came up big in the 87
th minute with her second save of the day.
Montevallo saw one last chance to come out with a victory in the 88
th minute but
Lainey Farabaugh's shot was turned aside by the keeper, leaving the game at a 1-1 draw.
