GAME NOTES
- Colton Thompson was excellent as she had 23 assists, four kills, two service aces, one block and six digs.
- Alex Koontz led the Falcons with seven kills while Morgan Hoffman had six kills and a .385 hit percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Montevallo opened up the match with a 4-0 lead with kills from Morgan Hoffman and Kamble Frenette and an ace from Alex Koontz.
- The Falcons doubled their lead with a kill from Kamble Frenette, Colton Thompson and multiple from Macy Martin to make it 8-2.
- UM kept their foot on the gas to make it 14-5 with two kills from Koontz, one from Hoffman and an ace from Colton Thompson.
- After an Argonaut timeout, UWF took the next five points until a kill from Frenette spotted the Argonaut run.
- Up 18-12, West Florida went on a 6-1 run to shorten the Falcon lead to 19-18.
- Both teams battled down the stretch and at 23-23, UWF took the set with a kill and an ace.
Set 2
- The Falcons started the second out like the first by pouncing on the Argonauts early to take a 4-1 lead.
- At 6-5 and after a kill from Allie Dishman, West Florida took the next seven consecutive points to double up the Falcons at 12-6.
- After a Falcon timeout, Montevallo climbed back in the set with a kill from Macy Martin and Colton Thompson mixed with UWF errors.
- With the Argonauts leading at 16-13, UWF took the next eight out of 10 points to make it 24-15.
- Montevallo refused to give in as they scored the next five points with an ace from Dishman and kills from Alex Koontz and Morgan Hoffman.
- West Florida won the set on a Falcon error.
Set 3
- Tied at 11-11, the Argonauts took the last 14 out of 15 points to take a dominating set and to win the match.
- The Argonauts had a .323 hit percentage in the last set while the Falcons had a hit percentage of -.065.
