Montevallo Falls to West Georgia in Road GSC Match

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team drops their match against West Georgia on Friday, Nov. 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1
  • Montevallo started out hot with kills from Allie Dishman, Macy Martin and Kamble Frenette to start the match.
  • The Falcons leaped out to a 14-5 lead as 11 of their 14 points were kills.
  • After three straight points from the Wolves, Montevallo won the next three with kills from Allie Dishman and Macy Martin with an ace from Alex Koontz.
  • Up 17-10, UM won six consecutive points with three points coming off aces from Dishman.
  • Montevallo went on to win the set off a West Georgia error.
 
Set 2
  • Tied at 6-6, UM created distance from the Wolves with kills by Morgan Hoffman and Alex Koontz, both assisted by Kalin Duncan.
  • UWG took the lead by going on a 9-2 run.
  • The Falcons were able to tie the set up at 20-20 but the Wolves won the set by taking the last five out of six points.
 
Set 3
  • Down 3-4, Montevallo won the next 13 out of 14 points highlighted by kills from Kalin Duncan, Macy Martin, Alex Koontz, Allie Dishman and Morgan Hoffman.
  • The Falcons went on to take a dominating set by holding West Georgia to a .029 hit percentage.
  • UWG had their second most errors in a set during the match (6)
 
Set 4
  • West Georgia took an early 4-1 lead helped by three Falcon errors.
  • Up 5-4, UWG took the next five out of seven points to go up 10-6.
  • Montevallo climbed back into the set with kills by Allie Dishman, Kamble Frenette and Alex Koontz.
  • The Falcons came within one after a kill and block by Morgan Hoffman but the Wolves won the next five points with three kills and two Falcon errors.
  • The Wolves won the set and tied the match by winning the last four out of six points.
  • UM had their lowest hitting percentage of the night at .103.
  • UWG had their most errors in the set during the fourth set (8)
 
Set 5
  • The Falcons got their first three points in the final set with kills from Macy Martin and Colton Thompson with an error by the Wolves.
  • After a kill by Kamble Frenette, West Georgia took the next four points with a kill and two aces.
  • With West Georgia up 14-10 and on match points, Montevallo showed no quit and took the lead at 15-14 with kills by Macy Martin and Kamble Frenette with two aces from Allie Dishman.
  • The Wolves tied it up at 15-15 then Montevallo stole the lead back with a kill from Frenette.
  • UWG got the upper hand by taking a two-point swing on the Falcons.
  • Montevallo tied the set at 17-17 then took the lead back with an ace from Macy Martin.
  • Down 18-17, West Georgia won the final three points to take the final set and the match with two kills and an error on Montevallo.

Montevallo will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they travel to Valdosta, Ga. to take on the Blazers of Valdosta State.
