MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team wraps up their regular season with a win over Valdosta State to clinch the fourth seed in the Gulf South Conference tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Montevallo started off hot with kills from Alex Koontz and Kamble Frenette.
- Valdosta State countered with four points of their own.
- After a second kill from Kamble Frenette, the Falcons and Blazers stayed tied all the way at 9-9 but UM took the advantage by going on an 8-2 run highlighted by Alex Koontz and Allie Dishman.
- The Blazers battled back to tie the set at 22-22.
- Montevallo went on to win the set by taking advantage of three Blazer errors.
Set 2
- The Falcons went on a 5-2 run with kills from Martin and Koontz all assisted by Colton Thompson.
- Down 9-5, Valdosta State took the next five points to take the lead.
- Montevallo responded with four points of their own with two kills from Dishman and one from Frenette.
- After VSU tied the set at 14-14, Montevallo won five consecutive points with kills from Martin, Frenette and Hoffman.
- The Falcons finished the set with four straight points to take a 2-0 advantage on Valdosta State in the match.
Set 3
- Valdosta State won the third set helped by having their highest kill total in any set of the match with 15 and had their highest hit percentage at .277.
- The Blazers won the final four points of the set to avoid being swept.
Set 4
- For the fourth set in a row, Montevallo took the lead to start the set by taking a 7-1 run.
- The Falcons would continue to extend the lead with kills from Duncan, Dishman and Koontz.
- Down 12-3, Valdosta State won six consecutive points to claw back into the set.
- Montevallo would win the set with 10 of their last 13 points coming off kills by the Falcons.

With the win, Montevallo clinches the fourth seed and will await the winner of the fifth seed against the eighth seed in Pensacola, Fla. on Nov. 17.
