MONTEVALLO, Ala. – In what was a strong showing both offensively and defensively, the University of Montevallo Men's Basketball team earned a 96-81 win over Shorter, Friday, in the McChesney Student Activity Center.
Montevallo's offense bounced back from its previous two Gulf South Conference outings with 96 total points behind a team-high 28 from Cam Glover. The Falcons pulled away from Shorter in the second half and led by as many as 24 as Glover poured in 17 of his total 28 points in the final frame.
The Falcons trailed early on and were down by as many as seven before a 14-2 surge to end the first half put the home side ahead, 48-39.
UM's foot remained on the gas in the second half as the Falcons began inching ahead of the Hawks. With 16:06 to go in the game, Glover began to catch fire with his first of 17 second-half points. His layup at the 16:06 mark pushed UM ahead 57-43 and ignited a 12-3 lead to give the Falcons a 69-46 advantage. Moments later the home squad took its largest lead of the night, a 24-point advantage 72-48, following a second-chance three-pointer from
Jack Henderson to lead 72-48 with 12:59 to go.
Despite a late push from Shorter, UM was able to hold on for the first win of the season behind late three-pointers and sharpshooting from the charity stripe.
Glover was one of four Falcons in double-figures, alongside freshmen
Landon Butler and
Tyson Sexton, and graduate guard Henderson.

st | UM fell behind to start and trailed by as many as seven, 12-5, at the 15:04 mark of the first half. The Falcons surged back and outscored Shorter 48-39 in the opening 20 minutes. Cam Glover led Montevallo with 11 first-half points. Shorter committed 17 turnovers in the first, resulting in 19 UM points.

nd |UM matched its first-half total with 48 in the second while Shorter added 42. Cam Glover scored 17 points in the second half and helped push UM to its largest lead of the game, 72-48, with 12:59 to play.
GAME NOTES
- Three-pointers, turnovers, and efficiency at the line proved to make the difference in the contest.
- Montevallo finished with 13 threes' compared to nine for Shorter.
- Montevallo forced 27 total Shorter turnovers, including 17 in the first half, and scored 32 points off turnovers.
- UM protected the ball well with only 10 turnovers, a season low.
- The Falcons had the best night of the season from the charity stripe, shooting 19-of-25 from the line. Shorter finished 12-of-19 from the stripe.
- Cam Glover scored a team-high 28 points to lead a group of four double-digit scorers. Jack Henderson added 16 while Landon Butler chipped in 12 and Tyson Sexton turned in a career-high 11.
