MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's basketball team earned its second consecutive win, Tuesday, with a 99-94 double-overtime win over Huntingdon.
Montevallo, who led by as many as 16 in the contest was outscored by 13, 40-27 in the second half to force overtime.
In the first overtime period, Montevallo and Huntingdon matched each other's scoring with 11 points apiece. In the second overtime, Montevallo pulled away late in part to a tremendous offensive rebounding effort from
Jaylen Curry. The sophomore from Hazel Green, Alabama, scored eight of UM's 15 total points in the second overtime and grabbed three offensive rebounds. A free throw from the forward made it a two-possession game, 96-92, with just 19 seconds to go.
Two more free throws down the stretch helped UM hold off the Hawks in double-overtime, 99-96.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st | Montevallo's offense exploded for 46 points in the first half, 15 of which came from Cam Glover. 10 Falcons entered the scoring collum in the first half. UM jumped out to a 16-point lead, its largest of the half, before Huntingdon used a 12-4 run to make it 36-28. Free throws from Glover quickly gave UM its double-digit lead back, 38-28. A free throw from Patten Currington pushed UM's lead back to 16, 46-30 with less than a minute to go. A late three from Huntingdon made it 46-33 at the half.
2nd | The Falcons' offense struggled to begin the second half, opening on a three-minute scoring drought until
Brandon Fussell drained a three. A 16-4 opening run for Huntingdon cut Montevallo's lead to four, 50-49 with 13:30 to play. With 6:10 to go, Huntingdon took its first lead since the opening bucket, 62-60, and built an eight-point lead, 68-60 at the 4:17 mark. A three-pointer from Fussell, followed by a Cam Glover three and a pair of free-throws evened the score 68-68.
Jaylen Curry put UM on top, 73-71 at the free-throw line, with 53 seconds to go. On the ensuing possession, Huntingdon tied the game and forced OT.
1st OT | Montevallo led by as many as five in the first overtime period, but the Hawks wouldn't go away. Each side managed 11 points in the frame, forcing a second overtime period.
2nd OT | The Falcons jumped out to a four-point lead in the second OT after a Curry layup, 90-86. A free throw from Curry gave UM a two-possession lead, 96-92 with 19 seconds to go. Montevallo sealed the game from the line down the stretch, winning 99-94.
GAME NOTES
- Tuesday's game marked the second double-overtime game of the season for the Falcons. Montevallo's last double-overtime game was a loss against Clark-Atlanta, 121-116.
- Montevallo attempted 78 field goals in the win, the 10th most in Division II program history and the most this season. The Falcons attempted a season-high 82 shots in the season-opener against Nova Southeastern. On the flip side, Huntingdon attempted 91 field goals – the most UM has allowed this year.
- The Falcons set a season-high on the boards but were outrebounded 55-51. UM' 51 rebounds are the most in a game since Nov. 13, 2015, when the Falcons totaled 55 against Carver College.
- UM went 25-of-34 from the line, tying its season-high in free throws made. Huntingdon finished 11-of-17 from the charity stripe.
- Of the 11 players that earned a minute in the game, 10 found the scoring collum – a season-best.
- For the first time this season, two players exceeded the 20-plus point mark. Jaylen Curry led the way with 24 while Came Glover added 22.
- Curry recorded his first double-double of the year as he and Jack Henderson each led UM on the boards with 11.
- Patten Currington scored his first career point, grabbed a rebound, and dished out an assist in six minutes played.
- There were eight ties and five lead changes in the game. UM led by as many as 16 while Huntingdon held as big as an eight-point lead.
