MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo softball's Lauren Higginbotham and men's swimming's Will Mahone have been named Montevallo Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 20.

Lauren Higginbaotham(Softball)

Junior utility player Lauren Higginbotham had a solid day at the plate in the Falcon's first home games this weekend. In a two game series against Spring Hill College Higginbotham had 6 at bats, and totaled 4 hits. She hit a homerun, a double and scored 2 runs. She also finished the weekend with 4 runs batted in.

Will Mahone (Men's Swimming)

Senior swimmer Will Mahone breaks three school records and ranks 11th in the nation after the Gulf South Conference Championships. Last week's five day conference meet was full of personal and season bests for Mahone, as he broke the school record for the 100 yard back twice with times of 47.68 and 48.63 seconds. The first time, which he managed in the prelims, currently ranks him as the 11th fastest in the nation, which for the time being, qualifies him for the national swim meet. The second of which, placed him 4th in the finals of the championships. In the 200 meter back he swam for another school record, recording a time of 1:46.09 where he placed first in his heat and made it to the finals. He recorded a time of 1:47.49 in the finals securing him a bronze medal at the meet.
