MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team earned its third win of the year, 9-8, over Davenport at home, Tuesday.
A career-high three-goal performance from freshman

The mid-week contest was neck-and-neck for the most part with each side netting a pair of alternating goals in the first quarter.
With 2:40 remaining before halftime, Davenport recorded back-to-back goals just 13 seconds apart to take a 4-2 lead over the home side. UM responded with a three-goal output, first from
Scott Friant at the 2:12 mark. A man-up goal from
Zach Laberge then evened the contest 4-4 at the 1:35 mark before Friant found
Trevayne Hunter at the 1:28 mark to put the Falcons ahead 5-4 at the break.
Montevallo's defense shined in the third quarter as UM held the Panthers scoreless and forced eight visitor turnovers. Trites' second goal of the match lifted UM ahead 6-4 in a man-up situation less than a minute into the second half.
Chaiton Williams added a goal at the 9:48 mark to push Montevallo's lead to three, 7-4, its largest of the game.
Less than two minutes into the final quarter, Davenport ended Montevallo's run of five-straight goals and trimmed the lead to two, 7-5. Williams quickly responded for UM following aground ball from
Matthew Boas and pushed the Falcons back up by three, 8-5. With 8:50 to play, the Panthers once again made it a two-goal game and scored again, just seven seconds later, trimming the lead to one, 8-7. Trites gave UM a two-goal cushion with 3:48 to play when he scored his third goal of the match following an assist from
