Baseball Remains No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, No. 3 in South Region

TUSCON, Ariz. – The University of Montevallo Baseball team remains No. 4 across NCAA Division II in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-30 regular season rankings, released Monday.

Montevallo made a big jump in the poll last week as the squad moved eight spots from No. 12 to No. 4 following a 4-0 week. UM extended the win streak to seven this week before falling in the series finale. The 3-1 record this week keeps the Falcons at No. 4. Montevallo earned a midweek win over Miles and won the series against West Alabama, 2-1.

The fourth edition of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Regular Season rankings sees the Falcons garner 211 total points.

At 24-5 overall and 12-3 in the league, Montevallo sits in first place atop the Gulf South Conference standings.

No. 4 remains the highest ranking for the Falcons in any poll this season. Currently, UM is No. 5 in the NCBWA Top-25 and No. 8 in Perfect Game USA's Top-25.

Montevallo is one of three GSC schools in the poll. West Georgia (22-7) is No. 20 and Valdosta State (18-8) is No. 27.

Additionally, Montevallo is No. 3 in the NCBWA South Region rankings, released Monday. The Falcons held the No. 2 spot for six consecutive weeks but drop behind Rollins in this week's rankings.

From the GSC, Valdosta State is No.4 and West Georgia is No. 5 in the region. UAH, Delta State, and West Florida are all receiving votes.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 29, against Spring Hill in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama.
