Falcons Come From Behind Late to Beat Lee, 3-2

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Montevallo softball team scored three late runs to come from behind and defeat Lee, 3-2, on the road Thursday evening.

With Ariana Pinder getting the starting nod, Montevallo's defense kept the Lady Flames off the board in the first with a pair of back-to-back outs while Lee had two runners in scoring position.

Lee plated the first run of the ball game with an RBI single in the bottom of the second before the lone Falcon error on the day loaded the bases with two outs. An outstanding, diving catch by Montevallo center fielder Sydnee Reaves ended the inning without any more damage.

With Montevallo's offense struggling to put a runner on base, the Lady Flames added onto the lead with a run in the fourth to take a 2-0 advantage.

A lead-off double from Alisha Lanyon in the top of the sixth sparked Montevallo's offense. In the next at-bat, Georgia Hughes ran out an infield single to move Lanyon over to third. A sacrifice fly from Shelby Sloan two batters later brought Lanyon home and put Montevallo on the board. A two-run bomb from Taylor Robinson lifted the Falcons to a 3-2 lead.

After her entrance in the fourth, Taylor Lloyd allowed just one hit in 3.1 innings to blank the Lady Flames in the final two innings to take her third win of the season and give Montevallo a series-opening 3-2 victory.
