MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo volleyball team starts the season off with a 3-0 victory over Faulkner University.

In the exhibition match, Montevallo swept Faulkner 3-0 (25-18), (25-19), (25-22).

The Falcons out-hit the Eagles .262 to .202 while having 107 total attacks compared to Faulkner's 84.

Sophomore Brooklyn Hudson led the way for the Falcons with 12 kills while adding seven digs. Morgan Hoffman and Alex Koontz had 10 kills a piece with Hoffman striking at a .769 hit percentage for the night. Megan Schram was tops on the Falcon squad with 14 digs.

• Montevallo recorded 47 kills in the match compared to the 25 kills for the Eagles

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1

• Montevallo started the match of with a 3-0 lead but back-and-fourth both teams went on from there. 
• The Falcons recorded seven straight points to win the set. Alex Koontz had three straight service aces to get UM the crucial first set. 

Set 2

• UM turned up the heat in the second set with an attack percentage of .268.
• Kalin Duncan recorded six assists while having 14 for the night.
• Morgan Hoffman had four kills in the second set

Set 3

• Colton Thompson record 14 assists in the final set of the match while she had 27 on the night.
• The Falcons closed the game out with three straight points
