MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo volleyball sweeps the Lee University Flames 3-0 to open conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1
  • Montevallo jumped out to a 5-4 to start the match with kills from Kamble Frenette, Macy Martin and Danielle Greene with an ace from Megan Schram.
  • Lee seized the momentum by taking the next six out of seven points to take a 10-6 advantage.
  • After a timeout, the Falcons regained the lead with four straight kills.
  • At 19-19, Lee took the lead with a kill from Naomi Hockless but Montevallo quickly snatched the lead back with four miscues from the Flames. 
  • UM would take the set with one of Kamble Frenette's 11 kills.
  • The Falcons out-hit Lee .259 to .081.

Set 2
  • At 6-6, Lee took the next three points with kills from Macy Petty.
  • Montevallo took the next three points to tie the set up at 9-9 with a kill from Kamble Frenette and an ace from Macy Martin.
  • During the set, Colton Thompson collected nine assists while Kalin Duncan had seven.
  • At 13 all, UM would take the lead with a Macy Martin kill and two errors on Lee to make it 16-14 in favor of the Falcons.
  • Montevallo would hold the lead till the end to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
  • The Falcons would have their highest kill percentage of the match with .478.

Set 3
  • At 5-5, the Flames would take a 7-5 advantage with two aces from Macy Petty.
  • Montevallo would fight back with five straight points highlighted by two kills from Allie Dishman and a kill from Kamble Frenette to make it 11-8 in favor of the Falcons.
  • Down 17-14, Lee would take four points in a row on three kills and an ace to give the Flames the 18-17 advantage.
  • UM would take the next three out of four points to regain the lead at 20-19 but Lee would not go away quietly as LU made it 22-20 with a kill and some miscues from the Falcons.
  • Montevallo would take the set and the match with five straight points to close out Lee with two aces from Allie Dishman and kills from Macy Martin and Danielle Greene.

Montevallo will next play their first home match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 21 as they welcome the University of Alabama in Huntsville for the Falcons annual Sea Of Purple match.
