MONTEVALLO, AL. – The University of Montevallo men's golf team finished sixth in a 14-team field at the Jay Jennison Cup, Tuesday, with
Eric Boutwell placing second.
In the three-round event at Slammer and Squire in St. Augustine, the Falcons posted a sixth-place finish at even par.
Boutwell entered the final two holes of the tournament trailing the leader by two strokes. The Russellville, Alabama native birdied his 17
th hole of round three and pared his 18
th to force the playoff. Boutwell fell short in the playoff but finished in second overall and tied the Montevallo school record at 10-under for the week.
Montevallo opened the tournament with a six-under team score in round one as three players carded rounds of two-under. Boutwell,
Harrison Hughston and
Landon Wockenfuss each turned in an opening-round score of 70.
The Falcons dropped to one-over for the tournament with a five-over, 293 team score in the second round. Boutwell continued to stay under par as he shot a four-under 68 to move up the leaderboard.
Albin Faelt aided the Falcons with a two-under 70.
In round three Montevallo was able to score under par again with a one-under 287. Boutwell was the only Falcon to score under par as he shot a 68 to finish tied for the lead and force a playoff.

Individual Highlights
- Eric Boutwell finished second for the second time this season and the third consecutive time, dating back to the GSC Championship in April.
- Boutwell was the only Falcon to card three rounds under par as he shot 70, 68, and 68.
- Boutwell totaled two eagles in the 54-hole event, 10 birdies, 38 pars, and just two bogeys.
- The 10-under three-round total tied the school record held by Tristan Nienhuis.
Team Highlights
- Montevallo finished sixth in the 14-team event and was the highest-finishing GSC school, ahead of Christian Brothers.
