MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team falls to the University of West Georgia, 1-3. The Wolves snap a five-match losing streak to the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- An evenly played set saw both teams coming out of the gate strong with multiple kills from both sides. Macy Martin, Alex Koontz, Morgan Hoffman and Kamble Frenette totaled five kills combined out of the first six points.
- Down 15-12, Montevallo went on a four-point swing with kills from Koontz, Frenette and Hoffman with an ace from Koontz to take a 16-15 lead on the Wolves.
- Both sides went back-and-fourth until the Falcons took advantage of some West Georgia miscues to go up 23-21.
- UWG took the next three points to take the lead then both sides exchanged kills to make it a 27-26 advantage for the Wolves.
- The Falcons struck back and took the next three points to win the set with three straight kills from Alex Koontz, Allie Dishman and Colton Thompson.
Set 2
- After going down 3-0, West Georgia got hot as they took the next 10 out of 11 points with five kills and two aces. A kill from Allie Dishman ended the UWG run.
- Montevallo battled but was unable to get within three points of the Wolves until multiple kills from Macy Martin made it 23-21.
- West Georgia put the Falcons away with a kill and a service ace to take the set and to tie up the match at 1-1.
Set 3
- The Falcons captured the early momentum in the third set as two service aces from Kamble Frenette forced the Wolves to take a timeout to stop the bleeding.
- Out of the timeout, West Georgia was relentless on the attack as they took eight consecutive points to take a 12-8 lead on Montevallo.
- Three straight attack errors got the Falcons within a point but UWG took advantage of some UM errors to extend the lead to 20-13.
- Montevallo made a late comeback at the Wolves started by a kill from Dishman then kills from Frenette and Koontz mixed in with miscues from UWG to make it 20-19.
- West Georgia ended the set by scoring the next five out of seven points.
Set 4
- The fourth set was dominated by West Georgia as they had their best hitting percentage of the match at .179.
- West Georgia took the final set with multiple aces and a strong presence at the net to stun the Falcons at home.

Montevallo will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Oct. 3 as they take on Lee University at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons defeated Lee on Sept. 19, 3-0.
