MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams both defeat Birmingham-Southern College and Berry College on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
 
The men's team won 158-133 over Birmingham-Southern and 181-76 over Berry. The women's squad took two victories by scores of 147.50-123.50 over the Panthers and 194-65 over the Vikings.
 
Both the men's and women's teams have now defeated BSC and Berry College twice this season as they matched up with Berry on Oct. 21 and won 195-75 and 161-105. They matched up with BSC on Nov. 4 and won 183-78 and 143-119.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

• In the first event of the day, the team of Petra Cajkas, Hanna Persson, Keara McGee and Danielle Davis took first-place with a time of 1:52.83.
• The Falcons dominated the opening relays as the men's team also won with a time of 1:33.84 put in by Will Mahone, Janek Barczyk, Aleksei Kolesnikov and Juan Celis.
• In the 1000-yard Free, Emily Sauer stole the show with a first-place time of 11:15.24.
• Montevallo dominated the 100-yard Backstroke as Will Mahone and Petra Cajkas turned in first-place times of 51.76 and 1:00.49.
• UM kept the event win-streak going as Janek Barczyk and Hanna Persson won both 100-yard Backstroke events with a time of 58.27 and 1:10.75.
• Beth Balent turned in a first-place time of 2:15.03 in the 200-yard Fly.
• In the 50-yard Free, Danielle Davis took home another gold for the Falcons with a time of 25.58. Davis also won the 100-yard Free with a time of 55.73.
• In total the Falcons won 16 events.
