MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams competed against Delta State on Saturday, Jan. 6 inside the SAC Natatorium.
The men's team turned in a historic performance for the swim program as they defeated Delta State for the first time in school history by a final score of 132-130. The women were defeated by DSU by a score of 63-199.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- It came down to the final event on the men's side as both teams were neck and neck going into the 200-yard Free Relay. An exciting finish saw Delta State and Montevallo tied with each other the whole race but Jack Rodgers brought it home for the Falcons as the final man in the relay to give the tandem of Juan Celis, Aleksei Kolesnikov, Jimmy Franck and Rodgers first place in the event with a time of 1:27.56.
- In the second event of the meet, the team of Will Mahone, Janek Barczyk, Aleksei Kolesnikov and Juan Celis took first-place with a time of 1:33.91.
- Janek Barczyk and Connor Daigle took first and second in the 100-yard Breast with times of 57.77 from Barczyk and 59.43 from Daigle.
- In the 200-yard Fly, Sophomore Aleksei Kolesnikov swam a time of 1:58.18 to take first place. Kolesnikov would also win the 100-yard Fly with an impressive time of 51.85.

The Falcons will close out the regular season with three straight road meets and will start that trip on Friday, Jan. 12 in Arkadelphia, Ar. to take on Henderson State.
