MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team heads north for a pair of Gulf South Conference matchups against Union on Friday, Oct. 11 and Christian Brothers on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Last Time Out
The Falcons were victorious their last time out as they defeated Valdosta State in five sets on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Brooklyn Hudson and
Danielle Greene notched career-highs with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Greene also set a career-high with a .571 hit percentage (21 attacks) and had eight total blocks.

About Montevallo
The Falcons will come into the weekend in a fifth-place tie with Lee at 3-3 in the GSC standings. Montevallo is 1-1 in away GSC matches and they are 1-3 on the road for the season. As a team, the Falcons are fourth in the conference with 923 points, 647 assists and 703 kills. UM is top three in the GSC with 115 total blocks on the season and they are one of six teams with over 100 aces.
Colton Thompson is eighth in the GSC with 294 assists and she is seventh with 22 aces. Thompson is one ace away from moving into seventh all-time in Montevallo's Division II history.
Nikol Antova is second in the GSC with 208 kills which is ranked 38
th nationally.
Ava Wind currently sits in third inside the Gulf South with 241 digs. Wind is also tied for third on the team with 16 aces.
Danielle Greene leads the Falcons with 59 total blocks. Greene is fourth in the GSC and is 56
th in the country with her career-high total.
Against Union, Montevallo is 7-3 all-time against the Bulldogs. UM is winners of their last three matches against UU. Last season, the Falcons defeated Union in their lone match up of the year in five sets. Against Christian Brothers, the Falcons have a dominating 26-9 record. UM has won their previous eight matches against the Buccaneers and is 10-4 against CBU on the road.
Scouting Union
The Bulldogs come in with a 4-10 record on the season and a 2-3 (7
th in the GSC) conference record. Union has won their last two matches against Christian Brothers on Thursday, Oct. 3 and against Auburn Montgomery on Friday, Oct. 4. At home this season, UU is 3-9.
Union is led by senior Reese Owens who is ninth in the Gulf South with 153 kills and third with 29. In her past three matches, Owens has had a double-double in kills and digs. Setter Ashley Pruitt is fourth in the conference with 453 assists (8.71 per set). Pruitt is fresh off a season-high match of 46 assists against AUM. As a team, the Bulldogs are sixth in the conference with a .175 hitting percentage, seventh with 571 assists, fourth with 111 aces and seventh with 768 digs.
Scouting Christian Brothers
The Buccaneers are currently 5-10 on the season and are 1-4 in the GSC. CBU earned their first conference win of the season on Saturday, Oct. 5 as they defeated AUM in five sets. In Canale Arena this season, the Bucs are 1-2 as they've only played three home matches.
Calah Jackson and Ella Schumacher are tied for eighth in the GSC as they both have 154 kills on the season. Schumacher has double-digit kills in six out of CBU's previous seven matches, most recently in their win against AUM with 21 kills. Sara Allyn Thornell is fifth in the conference with 428 assists while she adds 12 aces. Abby Wheaton leads the Buccaneers with 20 total blocks on the season.
