MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball is set to rotate through their second matchups against each GSC team, starting with West Alabama on Tuesday, Oct. 22. First serve set for 6:00 p.m. CT in Livingston, Ala.
Last Time Out
The Falcons were downed by the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Montevallo won the first two sets but the Warhawks flipped the script and won the final three sets to defeated UM. In the match,
Nikol Antova and
Colton Thompson had double-doubles for the Falcons as Antova had 21 kills and 10 digs and Thompson rained in 29 assists and 15 digs.

About Montevallo
A big week looms ahead for the Falcons as they have three matches this week including matches against teams that are ahead of them in the standings. Montevallo is currently tied for sixth as they are 5-5 in GSC play and tied with Trevecca Nazarene who currently holds the tie breaker. A trip to West Alabama is first on the schedule as Montevallo won the first matchup this season, 3-0.
Colton Thompson added her ninth match this season where she's had 20 or more assists. Thompson is eighth in the GSC with 382 assists and she leads the team with 24 service aces.
Danielle Greene added 10 total blocks in two matches last week and is now fourth in the GSC with 78 on the season (1.01 per set). Freshman
Nikol Antova and
Ava Wind are still top-three in kills and digs in the conference as Antova is second with 263 kills (3.42 per set) and Wind is third with 310 digs (3.97 per set).
As a team, Montevallo is fourth with 828 assists, fourth with 889 kills, third with 149.5 total blocks and has allowed the fifth least number of aces in the conference. UM is currently 48-11 against West Alabama all-time and has won the previous eight meetings.
Scouting West Alabama
The Tigers come into Tuesday's match 2-18 on the season and they are looking for their first Gulf South win of the season. UWA has lost their last four matches, most recently, against Christian Brothers where they were defeated 1-3.
West Alabama is led by Taylor Lamontagne who has the eighth most assists in the GSC with 341 (5.78 per set). Gracie Pierscinski has the 10 most blocks in the Gulf South with 32 on the season.
