Volleyball Matches Up With Valdosta State and West Florida on Road Trip

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team continues their road trip as they get ready to compete against Valdosta State on Friday, Nov. 1 and West Florida on Saturday, Nov. 2.
 
Last Time Out
The Falcons fell to Mississippi College on Tuesday, Oct. 29 in three sets in Clinton, MS. Blakeley Robbins was solid as she connected on 17 assists while she added eight digs and an ace.

About Montevallo
In the midst of a three-match losing streak, the Falcons find themselves seventh in the GSC standings with a 6-8 record in conference play. As the new month comes, Montevallo will look to get hot for the final two weeks of the regular season. UM is looking to secure their 10th win of the season.
 
The Falcons are third in the Gulf South with 177.5 total blocks this season. Danielle Greene leads UM and is third in the conference with 96 blocks. Blakeley Robbins is the reigning GSC Freshman of the Week and she has 16 or more assists in her last five consecutive matches. Ava Wind leads the Falcons with 32 aces and is third in the conference with 367 digs (3.90 per set).
 
Montevallo defeated the Valdosta State in five sets on Oct. 5. In the match, Brooklyn Hudson had 14 kills on a .333 hit percentage. The Falcons fell to the Argonauts in their first meeting on Oct. 4 where West Florida had 16 or more kills in each set. Danielle Greene recorded eight total blocks against UWF in that match.
 
Scouting Valdosta State
The Blazers come in with a fourth-place record of 9-5 in GSC play while they are 15-9 on the season.  Valdosta State had their five-match win streak snapped on Tuesday, Oct. 29 as they were swept by West Florida. Prior to the match against UWF, the Blazers were 8-1 in their previous nine matches including four sweeps.
 
Jojo Smith and Mackenzie Murray find themselves inside the GSC top 10 in kills, Smith with 252 and Murray with 241. Murray has had double-digit kills in seven out of her last eight matches played including a 21-kill match against Christian Brothers on Oct. 27. Audrey Bennett leads the Blazers and is sixth in the Gulf South with 580 assists on the season.
 
Against the Blazers, UM is 35-10 all-time and has won their last four matchups. On the road, Montevallo is 15-4 and the Falcons have won their last three out of four matches against Valdosta State at The Complex.
 
Scouting RV West Florida
The Argonauts is currently in the driver's seat in the GSC with a perfect 13-0 record against the conference. West Florida is receiving votes in the most recent AVCA poll with an 18-5 record on the season. UWF is winners of their last 13 matches, with their most recent loss coming against No. 1 Tampa on Sept. 21. They are coming off a sweep of Valdosta State on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
 
Sophomore Gabi Moulton leads the conference with 889 assists (10.71 per set). Moulton has double-double assists in every match this season including 12 matches with 40 or more assists. She has the rare accomplishment of having a triple-double this season on Sept. 6 against Wheeling where she had 10 kills, 48 assists and 11 digs.
 
Against the Argonauts, Montevallo is 6-26 against UWF all-time and is on a 24-match losing streak against West Florida. The Falcons have not beaten the Argonauts since 2003 and UM has not beaten West Florida in Pensacola since 2001.
