MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer returned home after a four-game road trip for a 2-0 win over Mississippi College on Wednesday night.
Mississippi College nearly scored the first goal of the night, but the Lady Choctaw shot was denied by the left post in the fifth minute. Sophomore
Morgan Goehring forced the first MC save of the night just six minutes into the game before adding another shot on goal just 46 second later. Following a pair of Montevallo shots, a beautiful display of passing in the 20
th minute led to a
Lainey Farabaugh goal with assists to
Isabel Dillehay and Goehring. Goehring ended a 10-minute defensive stretch with her third goal of the season to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the 31
st minute.
Raylene Alcaraz looked to add a third Montevallo goal in the 36
th minute but was turned away by the MC keeper.
With the Falcons leading 2-0 after halftime, MC looked to score just six minutes into the half but missed the mark. Farabaugh nearly added a second goal on the night, but the MC keeper kept the Falcons off the board in the 59
th minute. For 20 minutes, no Montevallo shots were taken before freshman
Preslee Malavenda fired a shot on goal in the 78
th minute. Montevallo's backline held strong in the final minutes without allowing a shot from MC to move to 6-1 in GSC action with a 2-0 win over MC.
