MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team is set to close out its long road stretch this weekend, traveling to Mobile, Ala. to face off against Spring Hill on Saturday afternoon.
So Far This Season:
Montevallo holds an overall record of 1-2 through the first three games of the season. After dropping a pair of contests to No. 16 Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle in the GSC/SSC Challenge, the Falcons responded with a gritty, one-point victory on the road. Montevallo used a late defensive stand to capture its first win of the season over Shorter 52-51. Three Falcons scored in double figures against the Hawks, including
Isabel Grimes (12),
Aubrey Sorrells (12), and
Jordan Gillies (10). Gillies added six rebounds and two blocks in the contest.
Montevallo is shooting 38.3 percent from the floor, including a 20.5 percent clip from long distance. Opponents are shooting 46.6 percent from the floor, with a 34.1 percent clip from three-point range. The Falcons are averaging 25 rebounds, seven assists, and 6.3 steals.
Individually,
Lia Edwards leads the Falcons in scoring (11.0 ppg), while
Isabel Grimes leads the team in field goals made (12) and steals (six).
Jordan Gillies has been solid as the starting point guard and is currently leading the Falcons in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and blocks (three).

Spring Hill holds an overall record of 0-3. The Badgers opened the season with losses to West Florida 92-65 and Eckerd 65-52. Spring Hill last saw action on Thursday, Nov. 21, suffering a 79-66 defeat at home against Mississippi College.

Since 1980, the two sides have faced off 13 times with Spring Hill holding the advantage over Montevallo with a 7-6 record in the series. The last time these teams faced off, UM earned an 87-76 win at home in 2018.
