Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Falcons Fall to No. 2 Nova Southeastern

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball dropped its meeting with No. 2 Nova Southeastern, 104-87, on Saturday night.

The Falcons got out to a slow start with just five points in the first four minutes to give Nova a 12-5 lead at the under 16 media. Montevallo cut the lead down to three with a quick 4-0 run out of the timeout. Over the next four minutes, Jaylen Curry nailed three-straight threes for the Falcons to battled back with 10:52 on the clock. The Sharks then went on a 9-0 run to increase the lead back to double digits with just over five minutes left in the half. Montevallo's offense struggled to score in the final eight minutes with a Camden Andrews pull-up jumper ending an eight-minute stretch for the Falcons without a field goal. With that shooting slump, Montevallo trailed 50-30 at the halftime break.

Curry continued his hot night from long range with the first Falcons points of the second half. A Derek Moore rip and run opened a 6-0 Montevallo run to open the second half. Andrews knocked down a runner off the glass at the 18:13 mark to cut Nova's lead down to 13. Just over a minute later, Jaylen Curry made his sixth three of the night to end a short Shark run. Jay Gillispie finished through contact and made the free throw with 14:12 on the clock to bring the Falcons back within 10. Over the next five minutes, Nova Southeastern stretched its lead back to 18 points. Bradon Fussell ended another 6-0 Nova run at the 8:54 mark and pull the Falcons back within 15. Andrews closed the game with 10 points in the final 6:27 but the Sharks kept the Falcons at bay and took the game, 104-87.
