MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montevallo men's tennis fell to Division I Alabama State, 5-2, for its first loss of the spring season.
The Falcons picked up a win in the No. 2 doubles slot with
Leonidas Lazarides and
Philippe Zehender taking the match 6-2.
Simon Luigs and
Sam Parsons fought in the top doubles match but would eventually fall 6-4. In the final doubles match,
Gabriel Variano and
Ryota Nakajima fell 6-3.
Montevallo earned its two points with a pair of wins in the singles matches. First, Nakajima took the No. 6 singles match by a score of 6-3, 7-5 while
Vittorio Noli earned a 5-7, 6-3, 10-2 win in No. 4 singles. Zehender battled in the No. 2 singles slot but fell 6-4, 6-2.
The Falcons are back in action with a match at Bethel on Feb. 16.
