BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo baseball's Connor Crowson and Daniel Irizarry have each earned weekly awards, as announced by the Gulf South Conference, on Tuesday.
 
Crowson was named the GSC Player of the Week while Irizarry earned Freshman of the Week honors.
 
Crowson batted .421 from the plate through four games this week and he went 8-fo-19, slugged .895 and posted a .450 on-base percentage. The junior third baseman also tallied extra-base hits, including a double, triple and two homers. He drove in six runs on the week and scored three. He began the week with a 4-for-5 outing that included two RBI in a 12-0 non-conference win over West Alabama. In a three-game series against Northwood Crowson drove in six runs and added four additional hits.  
 
Irizarry also helped Montevallo go 4-0 on the week as he batted .308 as he went 4-for-13 and had a .500 on-base percentage. He scored five runs and drove in one. The freshman outfielder registered three stolen bases on the week as well.
 
Crowson, Irizarry and the Falcons return to action on Friday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. against Christian Brothers.
