MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo dropped game one of its Gulf South Conference opening series, to Christian Brothers 17-4, Friday afternoon.
The loss snaps an eight-game win streak and is the first home loss of the year.
CBU jumped ahead of the Falcons early with five runs on five hits in the first and kept its foot on the gas throughout.
Zen Hiatt hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot to right, in the second inning for UM's first run of the day, as the Falcons trailed 9-1.
The Falcons collected three extra-base hits in the fifth inning, beginning with a double from reigning GSC Freshman of the Week
Daniel Irizarry. A bases-clearing triple from
Ethan Huddleston scored two runs before
Evan Liddie delivered an RBI double to left field to push UM's run total to four.
