MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montevallo men's tennis began the season with a 2-0 start after taking down Tuskegee in a pair of matches that saw the Falcons take all seven points in each.
In match one, the Falcons swept the double point with a trio of wins in the opening matches. In the No. 1 doubles,
Sam Parsons and
Simon Luigs fought with the Golden Tigers top duo but eventually came away with a 7-5 win to start the day.
Philippe Zehender and Leonidas didn't lose a point to Tuskegee's No. 2 doubles pairing.
Jonathan Ivarsson and
Ryota Nakajima rattled off a 6-3 win in the third doubles match.
The singles matches feature more Falcon dominance with Lazarides taking the No. 1 single pairing with a score of 6-1, 7-6 while
Vittorio Noli took a 6-2, 6-3 win in the second singles match. No. 3 singles featured a 7-5, 6-0 win from
Gabriel Variano with
Pablo Cervera earning a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles. The first match of the day ended with another pair of Falcon wins with
Julius Ziebart winning 6-1, 5-1 while
Mario Canto added a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 6 match.
Match two featured another 7-0 win from Montevallo with the Falcons taking all matches in straight sets.
The doubles pairings saw Variano and Nakajima take a 6-1 win in the No. 1 match with Pablo Cerver and
Romeo Elfving Navarro taking the No. 2 match with a score of 6-0. In the final doubles match, Zehender and Noli took another 6-0 win for the Falcons.
The top singles match saw Luigs win 6-0, 6-2 while Noli took the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-0. No. 3 and No. 4 singles featured a 6-1, 6-1 win from Nakajima while Elfving Navarro earned a 6-0, 6-1 win. Cervera took the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-2 while Ziebart added a final 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles.
The Falcons head to Montgomery on Tuesday, Feb. 13 for a match against Alabama State.
