MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Baseball opened its home season with a pair of wins over UVA-Wise, Friday, in Montevallo.
UM defeated the Cavaliers 5-3 in game one and 9-3 in game two of the doubleheader to extend its current win streak to three.

Connor Phelan pitched four innings in relief through both games and struck out three, allowing just two ones. The senior recorded his first save of the year in game two.
"We had two good wins today. Logan gave us a great start in game one and the bullpen was great all day. Phelan threw the ball great today in both games and was good to see some guys out of the pen bounce back today and throw well," said Head Coach
Chandler Rose. "We've shown some flashes offensively but still not putting it all together, but I like our fight.
Christian Kallaher and
Mitchell Walker with big home runs and Huddelston with a huge two out double in that second game. Quick turnaround, so we have to be ready to get back after it early tomorrow morning."
Montevallo scored eight of its 15 total runs on the day with two outs.
